2018 Specialized Allez Sport

All too often, corners are cut to meet price-points in the entry-level road bike market, but the Allez Sport redefines what it means to be "entry level." Focusing on weight, refinement, and reliability like nothing else in its class, the Allez strays from the norm. And while these things are expected in bikes that cost thousands, it's the first to make these technologies accessible to everyone.

Not only does a light bike feel better when you're climbing up a hill, but it's also essential when you're carrying your bike up to the 5th floor, and this was at the forefront of the frame design. With a redesigned E5 Alloy frame, the Allez features a class-leading weight. Aggressively thin-walled, yet tough, tubes have been implemented to save weight, as well, resulting in over a 450g (1lb) reduction in the frame and fork alone when compared to models of yesteryear.

Speaking of the fork, entry-level road bikes often times feature either alloy or cheap carbon fiber forks that greatly detract from the overall ride quality. But with a full FACT carbon fiber fork, the Allez is better handling, smoother riding, and lower in weight—floating over rough chip-seal and carving through corners like a slalom skier. For the geometry, we developed the Allez by utilizing our vast Retül fit database. This meant creating a geometry that's sure to cover a broad range of positions, while still providing the performance-minded handling you'd expect from your first bike.

This Allez also features integrated rack and fender mounts, allowing you to get weight out of your backpack and on to a lightweight rack when you need it. This not only makes for a good road bike, but it also enables you to transform it into a fast commuter. Along these lines, you'll find plenty of clearance for 28mm tires, so longer rides become far more bearable and city streets much smoother.

With Shimano Sora components, Axis Sport wheels, and a stiff Praxis Alba 2d crankset, the Allez Sport is not only your perfect first road bike, but one that you'll be able to ride for years to come.

- E5 Premium Aluminum frame features fully manipulated tubing with smooth welds that increase stiffness and efficiency, while looking just as good as it performs.

- Specialized FACT carbon, full monocoque fork designed for high-speed handling.

- Shimano Sora STI shifters are reliable, and worry free—making sure to keep you riding without hassle of maintenance.

Comments:

This is my first road bike with a drop bar and first one under the Specialized brand, and I can say that its a great option! I really like the build of the bike, as it has a sleek, good-looking finish that allows the bike to look nice and not too flashy. The drop bars have strong tape on them, and the gears are easy to change for the most part, although they could use some lubrication. The seat felt stiff to me but my last bike had a more cushioned seat so I'm sure I will get used to it. Overall its a great option for bikers who want a nice road bike for a price that isn't too crazy, and its light enough to carry around stairs or wherever you need to go in order to put it away.

This is my first road bike and absolutely love it! I've done about 200 miles so far and can't get enough. The only thing against it is that I've noticed that shifting is a little rough. And down shifting on the front can be difficult at times. I guess I could always upgrade the components later on. But completely satisfied with this product and the service at Spokes IS EXCELLENT!!!!

This is my first road bike after not having ridden in over 20 years. It is a fantastic entry level bike. I have had it for just about a month and have logged 210 miles. It's light and fast, the Shimano Sora STI shifters are great for the price. Seat is a tad uncomfortable, but working to get the right adjustment, would have loved a bit more gearing, (a 10 speed cassette) but given my budget the 9 speed works, jut have to work harder on the hills. Overall I am elated with the purchase.

        Comments:

I bought this bike so I could participate in the AIDS Lifecycle. It performed flawlessly on the 7 day 550 mile ride and I also enjoyed it on all my training rides. It came with a very comfortable seat and top quality Shimano 105 components. I wore out the first set of tires and purchased a set of Specialized Armadillos that made it through the 7 day ride over some very rough roads without a flat. There was one warranty issue with the front shifter that was handled by the bike shop and replaced however it took some doing as Shimano wanted the defective part returned before they'd ship a new one. I had to get the bike shop to swap a new one in so I could keep riding which they did for me. Bottom line is the bike is a super value and the most bike for the money you could ever buy. Specialized incorporates some of their high end technology into their low end bikes thus giving you the most bike for the money.

I use this bike on the bike trails and to commute to work on occasion. I really appreciate the "compact" front sprocket for hills, and the quality shimano 105 components.
