HECKLER GOES
ON AND ON AND ON...
DANNY JUST WON'T SHUT UP
Danny MacAskill just doesn't stop talking about ebikes. He's infatuated with them. In fact, the only time he's not chewing someone's ear off about how good they are is when he's riding them. And when he's riding an ebike he rides and rides and rides. Which is partly why Santa Cruz made the newest Heckler able to go further, higher, faster and be funner.
CHECK OUT ALL THE HECKLER BUILDS
FURTHER THAN EVER
The Heckler's 720wh interchangeable battery allows riders to expand their own trail map - accessing previously unreachable tracks, unlocking less-used trails, and cramming more riding into less time. And if you're after that extra, extra long ride, switching to a spare battery is a three-second, keyless swap-out.
29 & MX OPTIONS
The full 29-inch version feels more calm at speed and efficient across varied terrain. The mixed wheel version (29-inches up front and 27.5-inches in the rear) blends traction with quicker steering. Offering both means every rider can find a bike that matches their riding style.
150mm VPP SUSPENSION
One of the best suspension systems ever to grace a mountain bike, Santa Cruz's Virtual Pivot Point (VPP) delivers a refined riding experience. Tuned for e-bike use and a versatile performer, VPP gobbles up the rough stuff but is also really efficient. With two stout links and a lifetime warranty on bearings, Heckler is built tough and serviceable.
FULL SHIMANO STEPS INTEGRATION
Santa Cruz chose Shimano's proven STEPS electric drive system for its awesome performance, extreme reliability, and worldwide support. Not only does the powerful EP8 drive unit deliver up to 85 Newton-meters of torque, it does so smoothly across four drive modes–walk, eco, trail, and boost. A full carbon fiber frame keeps the curb weight low, meaning Heckler makes the most of its long-lasting 720 watt-hour battery. Because the system is fully integrated, riders have access to the full complement of diagnostics and mode adjustments via Shimano's eTube smartphone app.
E-SPECIFIC COMPONENTS
Using an electric motor amplifies some of the ride and performance dynamics of a mountain bike, and Santa Cruz has chosen components carefully to compensate. E-bike-specific forks are purposely spec'd with added speed and weight in mind, while four-piston brakes with 200mm rotors are the standard. On the drivetrain side, SRAM's killer Eagle 12-speed systems provide the same wide-range, dependable gearing Santa Cruz puts on all their pedal bikes, but come with an e-specific shifter to prevent disasters during high-torque shifting events.
LEVEL-UP TO RESERVE CARBON
Because riders do much more seated pedaling on an e-bike, Santa Cruz has taken their race-proven 32-hole Reserve DH 27.5-inch rim, and laced it to a trail hub to compensate for higher momentum rear impacts. It's paired with a standard Reserve 30 front wheel, and the wheelset is available standard on top-spec Heckler builds. Pretty sweet.
