Roger Wins State Road Race

On July 26, our own Roger Friend, Blue Wheel President, won the State age graded road race in a two rider break away in Roanoke. The course finished with a brutal climb that saw the field disintegrate. Some of the illustrious riders in the field were current BAR championship leader Mark King, father of National U23 road champion Ben King, and Steve Heatherington, former state mountainbike champion.

At Nationals in August, Roger posted a 32:42 time in the 25.8km time trial for an 8th place finish. The time trial was won by Thurlow Rogers, lifelong professional cyclist. Roger continues to post National class results while working full time here at Blue Wheel. HUGE!

Bike Week!

Blue Wheel is proud to sponsor the Bike to Work "Energizer" station in front of the Main St. Market Friday from 7:30 to 9:30 in the morning and again from 4:30 to 6:30 that evening.

Wednesday May 19 we are helping get Charlottesville's first Ride of Silence in motion. Our Monticello Velo Club has donated $200 toward the police escort cost for this event to remember our fellow cyclists who have been hit or killed in the past year. Please join us to register before 6:30 at the Charlottesville High School. Here's more:
