Roger & Scott brought home Gold and Bronze medals in the 50-54 division of the State Hill-climb championships held this past Sunday, April 29th at the Wintergreen Resort in Nelson County. Over 200 riders tested themselves on the 6.7 mile course that climbs over 2400 vertical feet from Beech Grove to the Nature Center in the Wintergreen Resort. With a gradient that averages 7% and pitches that reach 14% the Wintergreen climb has featured in professional road races as well as hosting the annual Jim Beazell Wintergreen Ascent that this year served as the State Hill-climb Championship.
"If you are going to ride something as demanding as the Wintergreen climb, it pays to have the best equipment", observed Roger. "My Trek Madone 6.9SSL weighs less than 15 pounds and is incredibly stiff in the bottom bracket. When you are turning yourself inside out on a beast like this you want to feel that all of your effort is moving you forward and not wasted on a heavy, inefficient machine. The Madone is a winner on that count."
