The Fruit Stand

Follow the south route to 631. Follow 631 for about 6 miles over “Dog Hill” (no dogs there currently) with a great view of the Red Hill quarry at the top of the hill through the power line cut. Go straight through the 4 way intersection with 708. Continue on 631 for another 6 miles past Walnut Creek Park (on your left) up and down several more roller coasters until you come to the T intersection with 712 at the end of the road. Turn right on 712 (you’re in South Garden) and continue on 712 through North Garden. There used to be an old fruit stand where the new Garden Gate development is now- the old-timers still call this ride “the fruitstand”. You will go up a long hill past the lumber yard. At the bottom of the downhill, bear left on the main road. At this intersection, the main road becomes 692. Continue on 692 to route 29. There is a small shopping complex on the site of the old Crossroads store at this intersection. Go straight across 29 on 692 (Plank Rd). Go up hill past orchards and the site of the county fair on your right. Take a right on 696 (Edge Valley Rd). Follow past Lake Scogo on your right to the end of the road. Turn left on 710. Go uphill past some cactus outcroppings on your left. Take a right on 708. Continue on 708 across 29 (CAUTION!) and past the quarry and a cement factory. Take a left on 706 (Dudley Mt. Rd). Follow 706 to the end and take a left on 631 (Old Lynchburg Rd.) Follow the directions from the “Avoid” ride back to town.
