Roger Climbs Mont Ventoux

If you've come into our shop recently you probably noticed that Roger has been absent these two weeks.  He is currently in Provence, France, on a cycling trip organized by Trek where they ride around famous areas of France, even parts of Tour de France stages.  This weekend he and the group climbed Mont Ventoux, one of the most difficult and fabled mountain stages of the Tour.  Roger, being the superbly conditioned and talented racer he is, of course dropped everyone and soloed on to victory at the mountaintop finish. In fact, here is a picture of him winning the stage:

He has sent us some pictures from the trip, such as the stop at the Tom Simpson memorial on Ventoux. Here are those non-doctored photos for your viewing pleasure!  (click pictures for big versions)

The annual Jefferson Cup Road Race, organized by the Monticello Velo Club, is scheduled for March 29th this year. Registration for the event opened on March 1st. The Jefferson Cup Road Race takes place on a beautiful course in southern Albemarle County (see course map) that rewards aggressive racing, and is expected to attract over 400 participants from the Mid-Atlantic region. For the first time this year, the race was selected as part of a 6 race series for the Nature Valley Grand Prix, one of the country’s top Pro/Am stage races.
